Saltburn Boat Fishing Competition A Huge Success
What a fabulous day for the dozens of anglers who participated in Saturday's Saltburn Small Boat Fishing Competition
Held for the benefit of the Jim Maidens Memorial Fund, which is designed to raise money for the RNLI, fifteen small boats competed on Saturday 27th August 2005.
The beach was a frenzy of activity as local boat fishermen launched for the 8a.m. start, and Bob George who was one of the principle organisers should be pleased that the event went so smoothly, as the very nature of such an event is as precarious as the weather.
Phil Tabner took the first prize, which was for the heaviest cod, with a 6lb 4oz fish, and was presented with the 360 Surf Shop Trophy and a ?75 cash prize. A full report of the competition listing all of the other winners can be found in the Hooked feature, here on TownGossip within the Focal Point Section. Also loads of pictures of the occasion can be viewed in TownGossip Photo Gallery.
